Workspaces are how people organize themselves and their work in Factor. Anyone can create a workspace and there is no limit to how many you can have. There is also no limit to the number of people you can add to a workspace.

For example, you can set up a workspace to do any of the following and more:

  • Group colleagues who work on the same project
  • Organize all the work relating to a specific client
  • Run a process
  • Solve a set of problems or challenges
  • Plan out project roadmaps
Factor's dark left panel, which is where workspaces are organized. The personal block under "Marie Daley" holds "News" (selected), "Board", "Analytics", "Skills" and "Reminders"; below it, a "MY WORKSPACES" heading with a + button, then the workspaces themselves — "Conference planning", "District development", "High level strategy", "Ohio North rollout", "Ops materials", "Product strategy", "Sales funnel", "Service strategy". All carry an @ except "District development", which carries a heart, the mark of a workspace with Culture Checks turned on.

How do I manage workspaces?

Create a workspace

To create a workspace, click the + icon on the left-hand side next to “My workspaces”, and choose the option “Create a workspace”. Here you will choose a workspace name, and you will have the option to add members as well.

The menu behind the + button next to "MY WORKSPACES", which is how you both create and join. It holds exactly two items: "Find workspace", with a magnifying-glass icon, and "Create a workspace", with a plus. Three workspace rows — "Conference planning", "District development" and "High level strategy" — remain visible in the panel behind.

Join a workspace

To join an existing workspace, click the + icon on the left-hand side next to “My workspaces”, and choose the “Find workspace” option. Use the search box to find the workspace you’re looking to join. Once you’ve located the right one, hover your cursor over the result and click the purple “Join” button.

Leave a workspace

To leave a workspace you are a member of, click the 3-dot menu icon next to the workspace name on the left-hand side, and choose the option to “Leave workspace”.
